India’s relationship with Israel has been one of the most sensitive and controversial issues in New Delhi’s diplomatic history. In September 1950, India decided to recognize the newly created state of Israel but deferred the establishment of diplomatic relations until January 1992. Rather than solely concentrating on the last two decades of the relationship, this book takes a broader historical perspective to understand the formation and evolution of India’s Israel policy since the pre-Independence period.
