Overall, this does an excellent job of describing modern day surgical techniques in retina and vitreous surgery in a format that is easy to understand for beginning retina surgeons. The factor that distinguishes this book from others in the field is the greater emphasis on surgical technique and daily patient care with less emphasis on literature review and historical perspectives. I particularly enjoyed the organization of the chapters, which breaks down each surgery by indications/contraindications, instrumentation, equipment, technique, outcome, and complications. This format is easy to understand and follow. The figures nicely illustrate useful surgical points and the DVD of surgical videos is an excellent adjunct to the book.
