图书简介
The first edition of the Wiley Blackwell Companion to Medical Anthropology has been one of the most successful volumes in the Companions to Anthropology series. Originally developed as a single-volume reference covering the whole field of medical anthropology, from the emergence of the field in the 1960s to the leading research of the early 2000s, this Companion has earned a reputation as a field-defining resource and has been widely used by researchers and instructors. The second edition will again by edited by Merrill Singer and Pamela Erickson, two of the most important medical anthropologists working in the field today. César Abadía-Barrero will join the editorial team as a new editor to the second edition and will bring to the editorial team valuable insight into medical anthropology in Latin America and into the emerging field of activist-led research. The proposed new edition will be comprised of 26 articles, many of these new to the second edition, while all other articles have been revised by 15-25%. The new table of contents demonstrates the major developments that have occurred in the field since the 2011 publication of the first edition. New chapters in the second edition will cover fast-growing research areas such as climate change and health, migration and health, and new assessment of the colonial, postcolonial, and decolonial status of modern biomedicine. All of the contributors to the volume are leading researchers in their topic areas. This text promises to assume the place held by the first edition as the defining reference text on the market for medical anthropology.
