As a teenager sent on loan to Bosnia and Herzegovina, many doubted he would survive in one of the most brutal leagues in the world. He won the league’s Player of the Year award. When he broke into the Dinamo Zagreb team as a skinny 19-year-old, few would have predicted he would inspire them to three consecutive league titles. Modric joined Tottenham Hotspur in 2008 and was instrumental in the team reaching the Champions League for the first time ever. Spurs fans retain a love for the man they call the ‘Little Magician’. By the beginning of the 2012 season, Luka became a galáctico, taking his place in a Real Madrid of the highest quality with players such as Alonso, Ramos, Özil, Kroos and Cristiano Ronaldo. This team, with Luka at their heart, would win four Champions League titles in five years. Throughout his career, Luka has been a jewel in the Croatian national team. He has featured in World Cups and Euro Championships since 2008.
