Book II complements Book I in that it presents IMF staff’s work of the ""software"" or qualitative aspects of stress testing-best practice principles, the concepts and frameworks-which are critical for credible and consistent implementation of the hardware.Both the hardware and software chapters were originally intended to be jointly published in one book. However, it was clear upon the compilation of the hardware chapters that the book had become too voluminous and a decision was made to separate the material into two separate books under the original proposal (this was ultimately discussed and agreed with the previous head of Publications, Mr. Clift).
