The chapter on jets in this book is the first textbook material on high-speed jets. The previous books on jets (three of them) are all only on incompressible jets. This chapter on jets discussing the aerodynamic and acoustic characteristics of the free jets in the first edition is well received. The material covered in the first edition in only up to 2010. But the field of jet is fast growing; therefore it will be of high value if the available material in the open literature from 2010 ? till date is added to this chapter. With this aim, it is proposed to include the new developments on jets and the new concepts of jet control in this chapter.
