图书简介
The first edition of QoS Enabled Networks: Tools and Foundations (2011) offered an understanding of the theory of QoS mechanisms in packet networks and how to apply them in practice. It explained QoS management features found in modern routers used by Internet Service Providers (ISP) and large companies.  The tools and foundations described in the 1st edition of the book remain completely up to date. What has changed in recent years, however, is that QOS is now being applied at a large scale in the Data Center environments, so this new edition focuses on new trends, including: common traffic types that exist in a Data Center due to cloud computing;  a case study fully dedicated to QOS within a Data Center; and considerations regarding the impact of Virtualization and Software Defined Networks (SDN).  Another trend which the networking world has followed in the last few years is convergence, the primary aim of which is to create a single network offering the maximum number of services to customers. The role that QOS plays is a crucial one; it enables the operator to differentiate services inside a network. The drivers and pressure comes not only from customers but also from inside the networks too. The authors strategy is to explain QOS, making analogies with what Network Engineers already know and are familiar with, and not starting from scratch.   New sections include: Traffic Types (User Datagram Protocol (UDP)/Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) protocol/Data Center traffic/FC and FCoE/iSCSI/Virtualization and SDN traffic flows between hosts and between servers/Real time traffic/Control and Data Traffic/Voice over IP (VOIP)/Video over IP (IPTV)/QOS and real time traffic/QOS in the Data Center/The new Traffic model for the modern Data Center/ Data Center Congestion scenarios/SDN and virtualization  considerations/Buffers Buffering data
