图书简介
Many people believe that EQs are impossible to predict; a belief based on their own conventional mechanical measurements (by means of seismometers). However, in the last two decades, it has been found that electromagnetic effects are very promising for EQ prediction.  This book presents the latest achievements of earthquake (EQ) prediction by means of radio communication systems (radio noise, the use of radio-communications in EQ prediction), because the electromagnetics (including radio communication technologies) have recently been found to be reliable indicators for EQ prediction.  In this sense, those electromagnetic anomalies are classified as (1) seismogenic radio emissions and (2) anomalies in propagation anomalies of radio communication signals. The first category is the radio emissions in a wide frequency range (from DC to VHF (or even higher)), which are considered as obstacles in radio communications. The second is the anomaly in radio communication signals, again in a wide frequency range (from VLF/LF to VHF transmitter signals), which are associated with siesmo-ionospheric and atmospheric effects.   The essence of this book is to invite young engineers, students and graduate-students, particulalry engaged in telecommunication and physics (+geophysics), to study the fundamentals of radio communications and radio propagation, and then to use the radio noises and propagation anomalies as a precursor of EQs and then for EQ prediction. Chapter 1 introduces the relationship between EQ prediction and radio communication systems in the general electromagnetics. Chapter 2 deals with the general (and comprehensive) description of  radio communication systems and propagation media, and Chapter 3 is the general description of radio noises as a disturbance in radio communications.  Chapter  4 deals with the use of radio communication systems and radio noises in EQ prediction. Several important examples are VLF/LF transmitter signal anomalies (for the study of seismo-ionospheric perturbation) and VHF transmitter signal anomaly (over-the-horizon VHF propagation, seismo-atmospheric perturbation) in the EQ prediction. Radio emissions in a wide frequency range (ULF to VHF) are described for the EQ prediction. Chapter 5 deals with the future of EQ prediction.
