AHMM are a premier international architectural practice. Founding partners Simon Allford, Jonathan Hall, Paul Monaghan and Peter Morris are prominent figures in the architectural profession and are linked to many academic and architectural institutions. The practice was established over 30 years ago and has won numerous awards, including the 2015 Stirling Prize. The innovative, experimental and professional approach of AHMM has landed many prestigious commissions, including the refurbishment of the public areas of the London Barbican, the redesign of the BBC Shepherds Bush site and the relocation of the UK Parliament whilst the original building is refurbished. The practice is equally at home with more commercial work and has a long and distinguished track record with educational buildings - their Stirling Prize came for a state school in South-West London. All this achieved while growing the practice from the four original founders against a background of significant change within the industry. This edition of AD, through the contributions of journalists, clients, fellow professionals and architectural academics, will discuss the achievements of AHMM in all areas of practice, using archive material, new works and unparalleled access to the AHMM organization, revealing new insights into their work, and their architectural and urban philosophies. Above all the issue will explore AHMMs practice as a holistic design project in itself, something the founders are constantly mindful of.
