图书简介
This book focuses on the development and application of new technologies that police and homeland security officers can leverage as a tool for both predictive and intelligence-led investigations and recommends the best practice for incorporation of these technologies into day-to-day activities by law enforcement agencies and counter terrorism units. The book addresses legal, technological and organizational challenges (e.g. resource limitation, privacy concerns) combined with challenges related to adoption of innovative technologies, for example, GIS data, mobile applications, counter-UAV systems, blockchain authentication, visual and biometric technologies. Finally, the book also places a high degree of emphasis on social acceptance for technologies, especially in the context of criminal investigations requiring access to social media content and platforms where it is essential to quantify data as private or public. The book chapters will review the notion of informed consent and present a way forward bridging the gap between technology and legal/ethical concerns. The book is arranged in parts focusing on: a) legal, ethical and social acceptance of security technologies; b) security of urban and critical infrastructures; and c) technologies for prosecution. Technologies and applications discussed include cyber security, secure emergency communications, AI and machine learning for law enforcement and for identifying radicalization, cybercrime investigations, blockchain for data storage, mobile computing for field data analysis, counter drone technologies, and computer vision.
