Although not a technical manual, this book does have many salient points that can be taken to the bedside. In contrast to The Difficult Airway: An Atlas of Tools and Techniques for Clinical Management, by Glick, et al. (Springer, 2013), which is an excellent source of techniques, this is a comprehensive book covering all aspects of the subject in an exhaustive fashion. It is highly readable and the illustrations are generally outstanding and well described. As the field of airway management has evolved in recent years and includes such adjuncts as ultrasound and video laryngoscopy, the new edition is welcome. It continues the tradition of serving the airway practitioner as a foundation of knowledge in this evolving field.
