Electronic devices using an oxide semiconductor are the focus of much attention, with polycrystalline materials generating huge commercial success. Transistors with an integrated oxide semiconductor have a higher mobility than amorphous silicon transistors, and an extremely low off-state current. The use of the oxide semiconductor CAAC-IGZO (c-axis-aligned a-b-axis anchored crystalline In-Ga-Zn oxide), one of Prof Yamazakis own techniques, has led to the mass production of liquid crystal displays using IGZO thin film transistors, while the application of IGZO within the field of large-scale integration (LSI) has huge scope for future development. This book describes the application of CAAC-IGZO in large-scale integration, and covers the physics of off-state large-scale integration devices, Nonvolatile Oxide Semiconductor Random Access Memory (NOSRAM), Dynamic Oxide Semiconductor Random Access Memory (DOSRAM), Digital Logic and Analog Sensor. The book explains off-state technology in relation to large-scale integration, demonstrating reduced power consumption in devices beyond the limit of miniaturization. A further two books in the series will describe the fundamentals; and the specific application of CAAC-IGZO to LCD and OLED displays.
